Focus on Resources Industries
Matt Smith is responsible for EquaTerra’s business development in North America, and also leads the firm's Resources Industries group, (which includes the chemical, energy, mining and utilities industries). In his latter role, Matt helps clients develop and implement successful sourcing strategies for business services and operating functions, and assists in the evaluation, selection, contracting and transition to third-party service providers during outsourcing engagements.
Matt has more than 29 years of professional services experience across many segments including exploration and production, chemical processing, energy trading, mining, power generation, gas and electric distribution and transmission, refining and retail energy services. He has led and participated in a wide range of engagements including strategic planning and execution, design and implementation of business systems, mergers and acquisitions, process re-engineering, sourcing strategies and regulatory consulting.
Prior to joining EquaTerra in 2004, Matt was vice president and utility segment leader for BearingPoint, a global consulting company. There, he had operating responsibility for areas including sales, risk management, project delivery, client satisfaction and employee performance management. He worked with account teams and solution leaders to plan account strategies and new offerings, and he maintained responsibility for project delivery and account management for key clients.
Matt spent 23 years at Arthur Andersen, and was the global leader of its energy business consulting practice. In this role, he coordinated market-facing activities, new product development, knowledge management and resource deployment related to industry consulting solutions.
