The shared services organizations that are more successful are the ones that mature beyond transactional processing to drive relevant business value. In addition to reducing costs, they increase productivity, competitive advantage, agility and efficiency across processes. Though it can sometimes be challenging, management can take several steps to ensure that shared services organizations offer strategic advantages to the company, while creating clear exit options at the same time.
