New York and London (15 November, 2011)  –  KPMG’s consultants across our global network of member firms are seeing client organizations increasingly focus on cloud computing; their insights have been captured in the inaugural KPMG global cloud Pulse survey. Key findings highlight that interest in and activity around cloud computing has clearly become commonplace. Just seven percent of KPMG firms’ consultants indicated that their prospect and client accounts currently had no material interest in or activity around cloud computing. In addition, 57 percent of consultants indicated that client organizations were actively deploying or had already launched one or more cloud computing efforts. Another 33 percent of consultants responded that clients had an interest in cloud computing but had no material activity underway.

Other areas of cloud computing investigated include drivers for uptake and usage, top impacts of adoption, functional areas of adoption and end-user cloud skills and capabilities.

The cloud Pulse research program provides insights into trends and projections in end-user organizations’ usage of cloud computing services. Results from the cloud Pulse are based on surveys and interviews with over 400 consultants globally in KPMG member firms’ Management Consulting and Risk Consulting service lines who are able to provide insights from the ‘front line’.

Bryan Cruickshank, Global IT Advisory Leader, KPMG in the UK said, “Cloud is clearly moving from being something which is discussed to something which is being done. What is important at this point in time is that cloud is viewed as a natural evolution of the service delivery market, with pros and cons and a learning curve. Cloud is then more likely to bring both tactical and strategic benefits to its adopters, and potentially even enable significant business transformation and competitive advantage.”
