EQUATERRA CONTRIBUTED TO NEW OUTSOURCING BOOK “GLOBAL SERVICES:
MOVING TO A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD

LONDON (8 May 2007) – Cliff Justice, Managing Director, EquaTerra is featured in ‘Global Services: Moving to a Level Playing Field”, a book by Mark Kobayashi-Hillary and Dr. Richard Skyes. The book breaks the mould of current management thinking on outsourcing by creating a new framework around technology-enabled and professionally-rich services, their globalization, and the competitive factors shaping their supply and their sourcing. Cliff’s contribution focuses on the history of globalization and how it is improving economies and the overall standards of living of today’s global workforce.

The book is aimed at an international audience of executives, board level and senior management, CIO and the senior/middle 'Enterprise IT' management, but also the ICT vendor middle/senior management.

Mark Kobayashi-Hillary says, “It is not just a book about outsourcing or offshoring, or even information technology alone, it examines what is happening to the global services market place today, future developments and how they will affect us all. The book applies the lessons learned from other industries and the history of other industrial developments, such as the globalisation of manufacturing, to the IT services arena. It also recognizes that offshoring is a category of the international trade in services, and a natural development in the ongoing globalisation of trade and commerce, rather than a novelty to be feared.”

Commenting on the book, Cliff Justice says, “It is essential reading for anyone who is looking at the globalization of their services. Information technology outsourcing has led the way by providing a delivery model, but other services like accounting, research, human resources, marketing and consulting – as well as industry-specific business processes – will become global, creating opportunities for both global consumers and workers. The globalization of services will not only improve economies and expand consumer markets, but also speed innovation, reduce costs and improve the standard of living for the world’s educated workforce.”

The book is published by the British Computer Society (BCS), ISBN: 978-1902505831. A link to the book can be found at: http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.10593
