EQUATERRA ESTABLISHES UTILITY AND ENERGY INDUSTRY PRACTICE
|
HOUSTON (January 25, 2005) — EquaTerra, the outsourcing and insourcing advisory firm, today announced it has established a Utility and Energy Industry Practice. Led by a 25+-year industry veteran, the new practice will begin by helping utility and energy companies assess the value that Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Internal Transformation/Shared Services can deliver in careful balance with the regulatory environment they face. As a key enabler to the practice, EquaTerra also announced a new service offering, 'Utility and Energy Rapid Assessment,' which helps firms quickly identify the potential financial benefit and scope for outsourcing. The Rapid Assessment decreases the level of data required to make the outsource/insource decision, and ultimately decreases the cycle time to develop 'future state' business process strategies. EquaTerra's new Utility and Energy Practice is headed by Matt Smith, who has more than 25 years of consulting and professional services expertise in the sector. Prior to joining EquaTerra, he was Vice President and Utilities Segment Leader for global consulting company BearingPoint. Before that, he spent 23 years at Arthur Andersen, seven of which were as the global leader of its Energy Business Consulting practice. In both roles, he had operating responsibility for all market-facing activities in addition to new product development, knowledge management and resource deployment related to Energy Industry consulting solutions. He also led the development of several research projects for Andersen including "Energy Crisis in the Western U.S." Former clients of Matt's include AEP, Exelon, FirstEnergy, LGE Energy and Xcel Energy. Said Mark Toon, EquaTerra's CEO, "Historically, the regulatory environment has inhibited utility and energy companies from considering outsourcing as a business transformation option. But forward-thinking companies are realizing they have external and internal options by which they can increase their efficiency, customer satisfaction levels and redirect capital expenditures towards system growth and reliability. Our clients will be well served with Matt leading our Utility and Energy Practice." Toon noted TXU, Williams Companies, Sempra, and Southern California Edison, among others, as recent EquaTerra Utility and Energy clients. Matt will be leading a group of senior executives with significant Utility and Energy experience. A recent addition to the team includes Jeri Lykke, former Director, Total Rewards at TXU, where she led efforts to optimize SG&A expense, and improved the company's financial and business position through proposed balance sheet and P&L discrete initiatives She joins a team of seasoned utility and energy professionals averaging 15+ years of industry experience.. |
